Email Client Settings
Note: The new platform minimizes the risk of data loss and service interruptions by supporting your site and e-mail through multiple servers simultaneously. Since your account is not tied to a specific machine or group of machines, you cannot use an IP address as a server name in your e-mail client.
Server Names
POP3: pop.accountsupport.com
SMTP: smtp.accountsupport.com
Port Numbers
Incoming: 110
Outgoing: 587
SMTP Authentication
SMTP authentication is required
Username: Your login username is your full email address and the password you chose when setting up the email address in the vDeck control panel.
Login to your vDeck control panel for additional information and tutorials for instructions for your specific email client (Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird. Gmail, etc..)
Alternate setup: You can replace your ISP's sendmail server (SMTP) settings in place of the smtp settings mentioned above. This is beneficial if you are having a problem sending out mail, as some ISP's may block third party email services. They do this as a way to monitor their services, keep stricter control on email and reduce spam. Switching the SMTP server to your ISP's will not change the email address. (it will still be sent with your you@yourdomain.com).
Mail filtering
Spam Filtering
Login to your hosting control panel and visit mail central.
Whitelists/Blacklists: You can continue to maintain your whitelists (allow all messages from a particular sender) and blacklists (block all messages from a particular sender). We will transfer any of the manually inputted whitelist and blacklist addresses you currently have over to the new platform.
Scanning Outgoing Mail: To help us stay off industry-wide blacklists, all outgoing mail (SMTP, IMAP, WebMail and script-generated mail) is scanned by our spam scanning layer. Any mail that is suspected of being spam is not delivered. (This can sometimes cause issues with messages that are sent via a script and are not well-formed.)
Sender Policy Framework (SPF): SPF, an extension of SMTP that stops spammers from forging the "From" fields in an e-mail, is activated for all accounts on the new platform. For security reasons, SPF settings are not editable.
Bulk Email & Spam
Sending E-mail to Multiple Recipients
Due to growing concerns about spam, e-mail is sent to multiple recipients with the following restrictions. On outbound messages sent through our SMTP/CGI servers, there is a size limit of 15 MB per message, and the number of recipients per message is limited to 100.
Your email is set up for normal business use. If you send more than 5 emails per second or more than 100 per hour, your account will be flagged as spamming. If you send mass email for a news letter, you should use a newsletter service such as constant contact or yourmailinglistprovider.com.
For additional email assistance or trouble with your email, login to your account and complete a trouble ticket.
